The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition.  The organization is delivering improved nutrition to over 700 million people in more than 35 countries, almost half of whom are women and children.  Nutrition products are as varied as fortified cooking oil and flour in Africa, soy sauce in China and biscuits in India, as well as specialized products for infant and young child nutrition, and interventions to protect the most vulnerable affected by emergencies or chronic illness.

This role is a core part of GAIN’s approach to deliver its mandate.  It will play a key role in liaising with the teams delivering the projects and those working in our country offices helping them to attract partners and funders to better understand and support our vision, mission and get funding for our programmes. 


The Head of Fundraising is responsible for supporting the management of GAINs partnerships with donors and partners, and supporting the mobilization of funding for our programmes. 

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff in the Fundraising Office in pursuit of team and organizational goals providing effective management support and provide encouragement for learning and development in line with GAIN standards
  • Resource Mobilization
  • Develop GAIN capacities to deliver the strategic RM goals and targets  in the 2017-2022 strategy
  • Maintain  oversight of the organizational opportunity pipeline  working with different parts of the organization
  • Manage the IC process
  • Support country offices in their resource mobilisation plans to deepen and diversify GAIN’s donor base
  • Facilitate the proposal development process for key proposals
  • Track donor priorities and plan
  • Lead and maintain the overall approach, system and processes for GAINs reporting to donors
  • Act as a central point of organisational expertise on donor compliance requirements, ensuring that relevant staff is informed of donor requirements.


  • Substantial experience working in an International NGO.  Overseas experience desirable. 
  • Resource mobilization and project management experience.
  • Experience of reporting to, and knowledge of compliance requirements of, major institutional donors such as USAID, DFID and the EU and ability and skills to establish compliance systems.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial, matrixed, global organization highly desirable.
