The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based foundation that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 700 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children, Nutrition products are as varied as fortified cooking oil and flour in Africa, soy sauce in China and biscuits in India, as well as specialized products for infant and young child nutrition, and interventions to protect the most vulnerable affected by emergencies or chronic illness.

Overall Purpose:

To provide administrative, programmatic and operational support to the Food Value Chain Program (FVC) and GAIN U.S. Office in order to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The Junior Associate will track and respond to a variety of requests regarding scheduling, staff travel, communication outputs, donor reporting, office management and meeting logistics, general program support, and knowledge management. 

This position requires interfacing with the Program Services Team, particularly the FVC Director/ U.S. Office Director, the FVC Senior Associate, the U.S. Office Finance Manager, the U.S. Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations Manager, FVC Project Managers, GAIN Communications Managers, and GAIN Executive Staff.

The Junior Associate will work closely with the Director of Food Value Chains and wider team to support the building, scope and delivery of the initiative and ensure that all project activities are delivered according to the set targets and implementation timeframe. 


• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2-3 years’ experience
• Understanding of international development
• Experience in a developing country context preferred


• Collaborates widely across teams and shares information and knowledge on a timely basis
• Flexible and helpful attitude, willing to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise
• Anticipates Director’s needs and provides necessary information as needed
• Helps team members work through logistical and programmatic needs
• Understands the organization’s strategy and long term plans and how this translates into own work area and role
• Competent with MS Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Word, MS Publisher, teleconferencing and videoconferencing services
