The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is recruiting for an Associate to work with their Supply Chains for Nutritious Foods (SCNF) cluster. This role is available either in Nairobi, Kenya or Washington DC in the USA.   

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.

The Associate will work closely with GAIN’s Supply Chains for Nutritious Foods staff to support the building, scoping and delivery of SCNF’s Global Program and to ensure that all project activities are delivered according to the set targets and implementation timeframe.

Specific responsibilities include;

  • Manage and execute project communication, including ‘in-reach’ and ‘outreach’. Identify opportunities and events for sharing information and findings.  Organize and support the organization of events (workshops, roundtables, summits, etc.) to foster awareness of emerging solutions effect supply chains for nutrition outcomes.
  • Oversee the development of TA materials, based on GAIN’s best practices and the needs of the SCNF cluster.  Liaise with projects and teams across GAIN to ensure that offerings are fit for purpose and that all GAIN staff are aware of the support available to them.
  • Oversee the development and monitor the implementation cluster, programme, and project communications plans
  • Manage internal reporting by drafting and compiling information and draft presentations on project and financial highlights for board meetings and other management reviews.


Candidates for this position must have an understanding and experience of international development, particularly food systems, agriculture, nutrition and other similar topics. Knowledge of and and exposure to supply chains would also be of benefit, along with evidenced experience in the areas of business management, process management and / or organizational development. This role will also require excellent written and oral English communication skills, with knowledge of another language a distinct bonus.
