The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a financial planning and systems professional to join their global finance team. The role will be based in Washington DC and is offered on a permanent contract basis. 


About GAIN

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.


About the role

The Associate, Financial Planning and Systems is a key member of the finance team, supporting the International Finance team and CFO based in London, UK and the Financial Accounting team based in Geneva, Switzerland.  Reporting to the Head of North American Operations (based in D.C.) you will be responsible for ensuring that GAIN’s overall forecast and budget is completed efficiently.  You will also build and maintain monthly management reports.  You will gain exposure to budgeting, forecasting, actual reporting, financial management, donor reporting, and more.  This will involve significant dealings with finance and non-finance colleagues based in GAIN’s offices in Europe, the US, Africa, and Asia. 


About you

You will have experience in financial planning and analysis and an interest in financial systems. You will be well acquainted with Excel and comfortable learning new software.  You will have strong interpersonal skills to enable you to communicate at all levels of finance and non-finance staff, an inquiring mindset, and an ability to understand complex financial matters.
