The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is searching for a Project Associate to coordinate all project activities on Commercialization of Biofortified crops in India under the GAIN and HarvestPlus partnership. This role is based at the GAIN India office and is offered on a full time, two year fixed-term contract, subject to funding.
GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.

HarvestPlus and GAIN have launched a landmark partnership to accelerate progress in improving access to essential vitamins and minerals for vulnerable people. This is an ambitious partnership to tackle hidden hunger by bringing the benefits of nutrient-rich biofortified foods to a billion consumers.
The partnership brings together two leading players in the global nutrition space. It combines the deep expertise of HarvestPlus in all aspects of biofortification with GAIN’s proven track record of working with private companies to create sustainable market models for nutritious food systems.

The Project Associate will coordinate the design and implementation of activities and partnerships at country level, to fulfil the vision of bringing biofortified products to scale under the partnership of GAIN and HarvestPlus.
Working in partnership with the Project Manager, key duties will include:
• Co-leading (with the project manager) on the commercialisation of biofortified crops project ensuring impact, scale and sustainability in various geographical areas
• Identifying new partnerships and business development opportunities for GAIN and HarvestPlus to collaborate with for impact and generate funding
• Providing technical oversight to project implementation and ensuring all project activities and workplans are coordinated in a timely manner and in budget
• Working closely with GAIN’s Knowledge Leadership and HarvestPlus’ MEL groups to ensure monitoring, evaluation and learning takes place within the commercialization activities
• Representing the GAIN/HarvestPlus commercialization partnership at various workshops, meetings and conferences in order to promote the project
Candidates will have sound experience in project management and implementation with direct experience related to marketing foods, supply chains and/or agriculture preferably in the international development sector. You will have proven project delivery experience in advocating partnerships with government and private sector stakeholders. In addition to this, you will have strong communication skills in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment with the ability to use your initiative and time management skills effectively. This role is a local position and will require applicants to have the right to work and live in the region. Fluency in English is essential.
